Luis Guello began his percussion career with samba master Osvaldinho da Cuíca. During the 80´s he formed Grupo Livre Percussão, researching and composing pieces based on Brazilian rhythms. He is a former member of Banda Mexe-com-Tudo, a band that electrified São Paulo nights for more than a decade. He has been recording with some of the greatest Brazilian artists such as Zizi Possi, MPB4, Joyce, Marco Pereira, Weber Lopes, Mônica Salmaso, Zé Renato, Sérgio Santos e Renato Brás.

He was a member of Orquestra Popular de Câmara and Banda Mantiqueira.

He has taught at the Tatuí Music Conservatoire and has been acclaimed as one of the most important Brazilian percussionists and pandeiro players. In 1999 he was soloist at the Percussões do Brasil at SESC São Paulo and the Percussion International Festival in Mexico.

During the past 15 years he has been a member of Trio Bonsai and Zizi Possi’s Quartet. Presently, he is a member of the São Paulo Jazz Symphony Orquestra, Choro Group Moderna Tradição and teaches at the São Paulo State Music School – EMESP.
